Newport Beach

Since its incorporation with in 1906, Newport Beach has drawn visitors and residents alike to its ideal Mediterranean climate.  In fact, its popularity caused the Pacific Electric Railway to connect Newport Beach by railway to downtown Los Angeles in the early 1900s, which brought even more people to the area.  Currently Newport Beach houses a population of just under 90,000 residents.  Newport Beach homeowners live in smaller communities called Mariner’s Mile, Balboa Peninsula, Corona Del Mar, Lido Marina Village, Balboa Island, Newport Center, Newport Coast, and on eight other islands in Newport Harbor.

Known for great shopping at Fashion Island, great surf at The Wedge, and great fun at Balboa Fun Zone and the Balboa Island Ferry, Newport Beach continues to draw a crowd.  In 2010, Newport Beach was ranked by Portfolio.com as the richest U.S. city.  Many ongoing free events, such as Shakespeare by the Sea and the Concerts in the Parks series add to the culture of Newport Beach, as do the Newport Sports Museum, Newport Harbor Nautical Museum, and Orange County Museum of Art.  Newport Beach information can be found here.
