Irvine
Irvine was designed in 1971 and remains one of the largest planned urban communities covering more than 65 square miles and housing over 217,000 residents. Despite this, Irvine was named one of The Best Places to Live in America by Money Magazine in 2010 and has long been heralded as one of America’s safest cities. More than 16,000 acres of parks, sport centers, and open space help to define Irvine. In fact, Irvine is home to the Orange County Great Park, which encompasses 1,347 acres including a soccer field, community garden and citrus orchard, agricultural pavilion and farm, picnic area, and arts and cultural exhibition area known as Palm Court.
Irvine is a very diverse community which is dedicating to preserving multiculturalism. Many community partnerships and nearly a hundred churches help to enhance that diversity. Irvine celebrates with it annual Irvine Global Village Festival by offering an international approach to cuisine, entertainment, activities, exhibits, and the marketplace. Irvine is also home to many excellent schools from elementary through high school, and takes pride in its educated community. Seven highly acclaimed universities reside in Irvine, as well.
